Hopes and Dreams / Rest in Peace were studies in the process of letterpress printing. I aimed to push the envelope with unusual techniques in a medium that was new to me.

Hopes and Dreams was inspired by the infamous scene in Spongebob Squarepants, S3E46b (One Krab’s Trash) where Mr. Krabs, while gravedigging for the soda hat of Smitty Werbenjägermanjensen, spots Squidward mourning over a tombstone that literally memorializes his hopes and dreams. (See Video).

This project was a multiples assignment, and was my final, so I related to the sentiment.

After the Spongebob-inspired series, I wrote another statement still sentimental of finals week, and experimented with color and dingbats.
